Ghana’s National Team has just recently loss one of its key-players for footballs biggest assembly in South Africa. It seems that Essien after many months in therapy, and despite his own efforts and the team’s doctors dedication will not make a full recovery by the beginning of this year’s South Africa World Cup.
Essien has been out of the soccer fields since early January when he suffered an injury in the African Cup of Nations. He injured his right knee during a practice in January 15th and has not been able to play since.
Many sports writers believe that there is no other man among the Ghana National team that could fill in his shoes. The strong and tough player will certainly represent a loss for both the offensive and the defensive ends of the Black Stars.
Milovan Rajevan, the national team head coach, now has the difficult task of finding someone among his men who can keep a good balance in the midfield. Ghana had a great qualifying stage and was the first African team to win a ticket for the South Africa 2010 World Cup.
Ghana will begin its World Cup participation on June 13 against Serbia. They will follow up with matches against Australia and Germany on the 18 and the 23 of June respectively.
The talented midfielder for both the Premier League team Chelsea and the Ghana National team is expected to make a full recovery by late July 2010.
