Michael Vick pleads guilty
A very emotional and disturbed Michael Vick spoke yesterday after he pleaded guilty in court. The Atlanta Falcons quarter-back sounded sad and truly embarrassed about this matter. Michael showed up on court looking serious and focus and answer the judge honestly, respectful and with short answers.
Michael accepted and took full responsibility for his actions. The judge was very clear and specified he could face jail time, Michael said nothing on his defense, and accepted all he guilt from the charges.
This event is tragic as it cost him his whole career. Basically every single sponsor he had terminated his contract immediately after the charges were made public, his contract with the Atlanta Falcons has being suspended indefinitely without pay. This is a clear example of how a brilliant star pays a really high price for making a bad choice in his life.
In this industry is not a secret that paychecks are high, but repercussions are high too. Vick made a public appearance yesterday, and asked to be forgiven “I made a mistake of using bad judgment and making bad decisions. Those things just can’t happen. Dog fighting is a terrible thing, and I do reject it.” He also apologized to the Atlanta Falcons management and team mates. As the judge said Michael could be facing the maximum sentences even though prosecutors proposed from 12 to 18 month jail time.
It is part of human nature to make bad choices or mistakes and when you are a huge football star those mistakes will have huge repercussions. This is a humble man, that comes from a humble family, and he made a terrible mistake because there’s not questions about it Dog-fighting is a terrible crime and it should be punished. But, on the other hand is sad to see someone lose everything he fought for because of a bad choice.
Vick has betrayed millions of Atlanta fans, like myself, as well as his team’s trust by putting in jeopardy the 2007 Falcons season as he is a key player and his absence is already causing concern.
