Gordon Win with caution at Talladega

By Stephen Lars

Last Sunday Jeff Gordon conquered his 77th win in a wild finish to the Aaron’s 499, with an incredible stretch charge to beat teammate Jimmie Johnson and Kurt Busch and breaking a tie with late Dale Earnhardt in Nascar’s career history.

But after the foolish rush, Gordon had to brave a barrage of beer cans from the grandstands in an ugly display that had track officials getting for more security.

It was no surprise, therefore, when Gordon’s latest victory at the sprawling Alabama track was met with anger and flying beer cans.

It was definitely a stark difference to last week, when Gordon won in Phoenix. For this race he started from the pole, ran up front early but was 14th on a restart with 10 laps to go. He stormed to the front, and with three laps to go passed Jamie McMurray for the lead a split-second before a caution came out.
