West wins All-Star Game

The NBA All-Star game will be remembered for the location that it was held at more than any other thing. On a game with lack of suspense and just a few lashes of showmanship, the Western Conference blew out the Eastern Conference with a final score of 153-132.

With an opening act held by Wayne Newton performing Elvis Presley’s Viva Las Vegas and James Brown’s “I feel good” and Danny Gans singing the National Anthem, the show started with no coordinated dance moves, different from a year a go in Houston.

It was not that the players didn’t played  the usual style, offense no- defense style, that is seen each year in the midseason classic, but this was not a classic. Not even Shaquile O’Neal whose bests moves were showed a day earlier on a practice with a break dancing exhibition.

Kobe Bryant was elected as MVP of the game for the second time in his career. He ended up with 31 points, 6 assists, 6 steals and 5 rebounds. LeBron James who was last year’s MVP led the East with 28 points. The commissioner David Stern was holding the MVP trophy and saying “There was one star that was the brightest of them all”. We had a good time, it was a pretty good weekend, and hopefully we put on a good show,” Bryant said after receiving the award “Hopefully we can come back.”

Stoudemire scored 29 for the West, Carmelo Anthony had 20, Shawn Marion scored 18 and Tracy McGrady dished out 11 assists for the West, which led by as many as 33.
