Norvell UCLA offensive coordinator

Jay Norvell has been hired as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks Coach at UCLA, announced today Bruin head coach Karl Dorrell. Norvell spent two seasons as part of the staff of the Oakland Raiders prior to his incorporation to the Nebraska staff.
The 43-year-old Norvell also will coach the quarterbacks at UCLA, a role he filled while at Nebraska. Unlike Nebraska, where Callahan called the plays, Norvell will have that responsibility with the Bruins.
Back in 1985 he was an All-Big Ten defensive leading the league with seven interceptions, and helped Iowa to a league title and a Rose Bowl appearance.
At Iowa, Norvell was connected with five bowl teams, including two Rose Bowl squads (1981, 1985 ) a pair of Big Ten championship teams and a team that spent five weeks ranked No. 1 during 1985.
