And the winner is? Super Bowl XLI

By Cindy Ferguson

The most expected sports event of the year is just around the corner and after 19 weeks of play we finally have our contestants, the Indianapolis Colts and the Chicago Bears.

And a big wow! What a way for Peyton Manning to lead the Colts to the final championship game. On Sunday night in the dispute for the AFC title and a ticket to Miami, Manning made a spectacular win over the New England Patriots in their home stadium. The team was down 18 points in the second quarter and then towards the end of the fourth quarter Manning made a stupendous winning 80-yard drive that led to the unexpected victory of 38-34 to secure them a spot in the Super Bowl.

On the other hand what do you have to say about those Bears who also made a magnificent and well-deserved entry to the Super Bowl? This is the first time the team has made it to the Super Bowl since 1985. Although the Bears maintained a good record all season long no one had faith in them and on Sunday’s game they trampled over the Saints with a victory of 39-14. The team took great advantage over every chance they got to assure their ticket to Miami.

This year’s championship is also unique in the sense that a new mark will be posted in regards to coaches. Both coaches are African-American, Tony Dungy of the Colts and Lovie Smith of the Bears and it is the first time an African-American coach leads his team to the Super Bowl. Not only is it the first time an African-American leads his team to the Super Bowl but it will also be the first time an African-American coach wins the Super Bowl.

Super Bowl XLI is scheduled for Sunday the 4th of February of 2007 at 6:25 pm eastern and Miami will be rocking as they host the 41st Super Bowl to be held at the Dolphins Stadium in [tag]Miami Gardens[tag], Florida and it is definitely a game not to miss.
