L.P.G.A. will be tested for drug Usage
By Stephen Lars The Ladies Professional Golf Association will begin testing its golfers for performance-enhancing drugs in 2008. To this date the L.P.G.A. has no evidence of performance-enhancing drug usage by our players; specifics of the testing plan will be worked up over the next six to nine months, said LPGA commissioner Carolyn Bivens. On Wednesday, the PGA Tour stated that the board authorized this week the tour to develop a list of banned substances and to create an educational program that would make players aware about prohibited substances, how they might get into the body, the health risks, the nature of any potential testing and possible penalties.
The PGA Tour does not have a drug testing program in place afar from its commissioner’s authority to require a test to any player believed to be using performance-enhancing drugs, therefore, it will be required to adjust this regulation and make all players aware of the dreadful consequences this may bring to the person involved.
