Mike Fratello In or Out?
By Cindy Ferguson The Memphis Grizzlies lost Sunday night against the Los Angeles Lakers 81-91. So for it is the ninth loss for the Grizzlies in what goes for the season and the question remaining is what will happen with Coach Mike Fratello.
The current owner of the Grizzlies, Michael Heisley, was brought aware of rumors that the team’s fans are very unhappy with the head coach, situation that seems to spreading and very understandable taking into consideration their performance and loosing streak. The labor status pertaining to Fratello lies in the hands of Jerry West, team president of the Grizzlies. So far no adjustments have been done to the fact the Fratello’s contract expires at the end of the season. Heisley did make some comments regarding the issue. “The basketball guys are the ones who are going to be judged based on how the team does. You can’t go losing every game,” Heisley said. “But it’s not appropriate for me to comment on Mike. I’m not the guy that hired Mike, and I refuse to judge Mike’s performance. Mike was within one game of winning as many games as Hubie Brown did. A lot of the criticism of Mike is not merited. “The criticism of Mike now is because we’re not doing well. But the guy that has to be pleased with Mike is Jerry West, not Mike Heisley. Jerry’s picking the players and the coaches, Period”.
So I guess we’ll have to wait and see how the rest of the season goes for the Grizzlies.
