$2.75 millions paid the Dallas Cowboys for new stadium’s land

The Dallas Cowboys are planning on building a new stadium, but nobody knew that the happiest person will be a 72 year old woman.
The lucky lady is Evelyn Wray, who is going to receive $2.75 millions for his house and 4 acres of land for a decision that was taken by the Arlington City Council; this is considered the largest payout for residential property.
“I can buy something and stop living in my car; I’ve been basically living out of suitcases from here to there.” Ms. Wray said.
Ms. Wray said that she was basically living with family members as she didn’t want to take a decision on a new house until the deal with the city was closed, she even moved from her house since March.
Arlington’s city attorney, Jay Doegey, said that he was satisfied to get that and two other properties settled at a September 12th meeting. The other properties (commercial tracts), cost the city way less than Evelyn’s deal, as the prices were settled for $1.15 million and $1.2 million.
One fact that helped Ms. Wray to get the $2.75 million deal was that his fight against the city to receive what she considered a fair deal received a lot of public attention with even Radio Stations involved.
Also, Evelyn’s lawyer, Glenn Sodd, argued that the land should be valued at commercial prices as it was located on a major thoroughfare and across the street from a new Wal-Mart Super-center.
The offer that the city presented Ms. Wray was originally of $351,000, but on court, the price was raised to $1,2 million, but the 72 year old lady’s struggle on county courts, got her a deal for more than twice that price.
The Stadium, which is going to cost $650 millions, is expected to be ready for the 2009 season as most of the land has been acquired, but, according to Jay Doegey, dozens of lawsuits are still pending.
