By Camilla Mancini
On August 3rd the New York Yankees and the Blue Jays had an encounter that crushed the Toronto team with an 8-1 final score.
Yankee’s big man in the game, Jason Giambi, hit a three-run home run that gave his team a four-straight win, which at the same time kept them ahead in the AL East division. On the action ‘Giambino’ got a double RBI.
But the winning result it wasn’t only thanks to Giambi. The new acquisition, Cory Lidle allowed one run and four hits in six innings in his first start with New York. Lidle was attained from Philadelphia on Sunday, along with outfielder Bobby Abreu, who had three hits on Thursday. Also Craig Wilson, acquired from Pittsburgh on Monday, made a two-run single.
On the other hand, the Canadian had their longest losing streak in the season (fifth in a row) and fell 8 1/2 games behind the resurgent Yankees.
Despite the bad patch they’ve gone through Blue Jays expect to change it on the coming Friday, when they’ll host the opener of a three-game series with the [tag]Chicago White Sox[tag].
